My friends from the field

Cheeky grins and bright eyes

When I close my notebook and I prepare myself for the end of the day, I realize that weeks on the field doing research on your own can make me feel pretty lonely. To while away the time (sometimes, I get a LOT of new data!) I would hang out with the kids. Going past their initial shyness, they are a lot of fun to hang out with. Working in Bicol, I don’t know the local language and these kids taught me what little I know. We all laugh at the mistakes I make and in return sometimes they ask for stories.
